Amaria Means (she/her) is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor Associate with a Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology from Northwest University. Amaria has a passion for helping individuals and believes that therapy is a space of release and serves as a great mode of personal growth and development. Her therapeutic approach centers on the ideas of self-discovery, client autonomy, and working with the whole client.

Amaria has experience working with teens and adults who have experienced depression, anxiety, trauma, identity development, adjustment, and distress regarding life’s challenges. She is also passionate about providing services to minority communities who may be experiencing racial stress; as well as young adults learning to navigate life challenges through tough transitions into adulthood.

Amaria’s therapeutic orientation is both Humanistic and Cognitive Behavioral. She utilizes a combination of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT) to work through challenges with her clients. Amaria believes that collaboration throughout the therapeutic process is important and that offering a warm environment where all clients can feel safe while they take their therapeutic journey is essential.
